Sportsbet Australia Back Sporting Live Odds Advertising Restrictions

Australia’s largest corporate bookmaker, Sportsbet.com.au, has welcomed the announcement that the promotion of live betting odds in sporting broadcasts will be restricted.

Sportsbet’s Chief Executive Officer, Cormac Barry, said it is an important step in reforms to online wagering, including sports betting, in Australia.

“Sportsbet acknowledges there are valid concerns about the penetration of sports-betting advertising, which is why we welcome this change,” Mr Barry said.

“Although the broadcasters’ codes of practice are still to be formally amended and registered, Sportsbet’s perspective is that the proposed restrictions are sensible, reasonable, and most importantly, they address the issues that have been raised about overbearing sports-betting advertising.”
