After GWS looked like certainties to win the wooden spoon, the Gold Coast Suns have continued to firm, still winless and into $2.10 from $3.50 after the weekend with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

The Giants, who opened at $1.15 and were once as short as $1.03 after their round five loss to the Western Bulldogs, are out to $1.72, their highest figure since the market opened.

“At the start of the year everyone would have penciled in GWS for the spoon and that is certainly the way the punters have gone, with ten times the money on them compared to the Suns to finish last,” said sportsbet.com.au.

“But the Suns are still yet to win a game while the Giants have shown a bit, so at this stage it really could go either way.”

After another upset loss, Carlton are now out to $1.90 from $1.37 to make the finals. Richmond on the other hand look destined for a rare finals appearance, into $1.22 from $1.50 to make the eight.

Sam Stosur is $1.65 to beat Dominika Cibulkova ($2.30) in their quarter-final match at the French Open tomorrow.

Stosur’s odds to win at Roland Garros were slashed from $8 to $5 after her victory and the shock loss of world number one Victoria Azarenka.

While Stosur has never beaten Azarenka in six matches, she has beaten Cibulkova in their only meeting.

The 2010 finalist could have a showdown with German Angelique Kerber in the semi-finals. Kerber (No. 10 seed) is $10 to win the French Open, but some punters secured $1,001 when betting first opened earlier this year.

Novak Djokovic ($4) is at his longest price since betting opened on the tournament. He survived a massive scare against Andreas Seppi after coming back from two sets down. The world number one traded at $1.87 to stage a comeback.

Collingwood are once again favourites to win the Premiership, firming from $5.50 to $4.25 with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

Hawthorn, who have been flag favourites for the majority of the season, have also firmed, into $4.75 from $5.50.

The Eagles, who were favourites for the first time last week, have drifted from $5.00 to $5.50 after their upset loss to Brisbane.

Collingwood were flag favourites right up until just before round 1, where the Hawks moved into $3.60 before their match.

The Pies were once as long as $8.50 to win the flag after their narrow Anzac Day win over Essendon.

“Given how close this season has been there has been big movements in premiership betting week in week out. Three teams have been flag favourites throughout the year, but after a few ordinary weeks the Pies look like they are back on top and are once again favourites,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Adelaide have also firmed from $8.00 to $7.00, while the Bombers have drifted from $6.00 to $9.00 after losing to Melbourne.

And after being $166 after round two, the Tigers have firmed from $31 to $21 after their win on Friday night.

Punters with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au give New South Wales a massive chance of leveling the 2012 State of Origin series, with the Blues attracting 47% of the money in head-to-head betting.
